Louise Johnson and Ginger Beebe chaired the Committee of One Hundred
Fall Workshop in 2000.
This Ozark Folk Center 50th Anniversary Legacy Photo is in tribute to the
Committee of One Hundred.
From, Charlotte Davis, former Committee chair.
Before Ginger Beebe became First Lady of Arkansas, she was a member of the Committee of One Hundred. Her energy and creativity were abundant and the Fall Workshop that she chaired with Louise Johnson is still talked about today! Coinciding with Halloween, Ginger's vision included pumpkin centerpieces with a twist! Kay Hinkle painted the pumpkin faces and Lenore Shoults' collection of hats, masks, and jewelry came to the party.
The Committee had long held luncheons at the Governor's Mansion and when Mike Beebe became Arkansas' governor in 2006 he greeted us with words I will not forget: "This is the first time that I have attended a Committee of One Hundred event where I wasn't setting up and taking down tables." This true story gives you an idea of how hard the Beebe's worked on behalf of the Ozark Folk Center!
Dr. Bessie Boehm Moore’s original concept for the Committee of One Hundred was for statewide membership with one member from each of the 75 counties and 25 members at-large. The Fall Workshop connects members with an annual visit to the park, a business meeting, and laughter-filled festivities like the pumpkin-head dinner!
