An old woodstove is warm, inviting, and you can almost smell the freshly baked bread...until you crash into reality and think about how much work went into cutting the wood for the stove, growing the garden, grinding the grain, raising the animals, or hunting the critters. Perhaps the good-old-days look better through a nostalgic lens and occasional campfire cooking. Enjoy your holiday--and if you're the one doing the cooking--may your stove stay hot, your refrigerator keep everything cold, and the coffee maker be automatic!
